I visited a school last week and I found out that kids these days know more about cars than some adults, it was surprising. They like to know about used cars what’s in and what’s out for their future reference. They told me knowing about these things from now on is very useful as they will be driving in the near future. I do not disagree with that because in the future they will be looking to buy cars when they pass their driving test and having this knowledge now can help them then.

My aunty’s kid who is doing his A-levels currently bought his first car when he was 14 and he is 18 now but still hasn’t passed his driving test. He had been saving his pocket money which he used to buy a car from eBay at the price of £250 and he gave it to his mother for her to drive it. This is great investment in my part because the car is still running and he bought it 4 years ago. It is a Volkswagen with 2000 number plate, which is still a great buy from ebay for just £250. He definitely did his research on cars before purchasing.

He plans to do his driving test after he completes the A-Levels and wants to research on history of Honda cars. He is a massive fan of Honda and loves the new Honda Civic type R. His room is full of images of Honda cars. He did his GCSE work experience in Alfa Romeo cars garage based in West Midlands. I mean this already is a great achievement from a lad at his age but he plans to do more.

I went to his school the other day to find out how he was getting on. His teachers were so impressed that they told me he knows more about the cars than the teachers themselves. He has also been advising his friends to make sure their parents do not make mistake in choosing a wrong car.

If the sound of your car stereo is not what you would like it to be one of the first improvements you should make is to improve your car speakers. Even a factory installed system sounds better with better speakers.

At one time car radios only included an AM receiver and one paper speaker that was located in the center of the dash. Today, most cars come with a factory installed system that offers decent sound. However, you will notice a real improvement if you change the stereo speakers.

Upgrading the speakers in your car today can be a very simple task. Many of the manufacturers offer speakers that are in one unit that are designed to fit into the existing speaker mounts and use the existing screens of your vehicle. With the all in one speaker units a tweeter is mounted inside the woofer. You will need to know the size of the speakers that are currently installed in the vehicle. These speakers offer an improvement over the factory installed speakers.

Component speakers offer better sound reproduction than stacked speakers. Separating the woofer and the tweeter prevents sound distortion. However, installing a component speaker system will require that you cut some holes in the panel that the speakers are mounted inside. Component speakers can help produce both the beat and voice ranges needed for either rap or rock music.

If you do not want to replace the speakers, another option is to purchase a signal processor. The processor can clean up the signal that is produced by your car stereo so that it sounds better over the existing speakers. For even more improvement add both the signal processor and new speakers.

In addition, the processor can change the sounds to help your stereo to sound good if you are traveling at five miles per hour or at seventy five miles per hour. Some processors have a microphone that is used to analyze the sound in your vehicle and automatically adjust the stereo.

For the very best sound consider replacing all the factory installed items with high end devices. This may mean replacing the stereo and car speakers. You will also want to add an equalizer and an amp in order to get the very best in music from your car stereo system.

When users submit reviews on the diverse GPS devices from the well-known companies, they appear to focus only on the the device itself; the packaging, performance levels, and the user interface. What GPS product reviews normally ignore, though, is the GPS Software that each product needs in order for the GPS unit to connect with the Windows or Mac systems effectively. GPS software is needed for tasks like synchronizing and retrieving the most recent maps and POI’s to your GPS device. Just like regular software, GPS software that is too hard to update should be avoided. Understanding the peculiarities of GPS software might not be the deciding factor that makes you choose one particular brand, but knowing about the supporting software is necessary after you already set your eyes on one GPS device. The kinds of GPS software are going to usually be nearly identical for the range of models within a manufacturer’s brand. A nice model to look into is the Garmin Nuvi 465t Truck GPS Navigator.

Garmin Nuvi Software

Garmin Nuvi manufactures a respectable range of specific GPS software that you can get from their main website. Software updates can be downloaded manually or with help from another bit of software called WebUpdater. In order to make WebUpdater run, you simply have to attach the GPS unit and follow the software instructions. There are also several mapping programs made to support either Microsoft or Mac systems. There is also a special section just for Mac users so they can make the most out of their Garmin Nuvi GPS devices.

TomTom HOME

The TomTom HOME lets you search your TomTom for current software and accomplish upgrades as required. On top of some basic features such as transferring maps, TomTom HOME also enables consumers to download files currently used in the TomTom, then modify and put them back in the unit to form individual displays, giving your TomTom a more personal appearance. Adding to that, TomTom has managed to manufacture software for mobile phones, the majority of which has been out of production for awhile. Fortunately there is still an application that supports an iPhone 3G.

Magellan Software

Magellan might have the well-known habit of selling affordable goods, but you can now find a great deal of software provided to be downloaded without payment, including two different versions; VantagePoint and MapGuard. VantagePoint is a comprehensive application that can bring all the GPS action to a computer screen. Each of the maps, trails, itineraries, and landmarks are given and your maps can be viewed by applying both the 2D and 3D effects.

MapGuard is Magellan’s second program and offers MapSend Manager and Mapsend Lite. The MapSend Lite is a powerful application that can view any map on your PC, allowing you to choose waypoints and design courses. This software also support Geocaching, and the consumer can additionally convert coordinates and mileage into many different formats. A great unit to consider is the Garmin Nuvi 465t Truck GPS Navigator.

Judging Each Application

Keep in mind, GPS software shouldn’t be the sole reason in deciding on your latest GPS device. This technology is only manufactured to enhance their products and tap into that product’s maximum potential. Out of the ones reviewed here, TomTom HOME easily beats out the competition because of your opportunity to personalize the user interface. Certain kinds of software could also be sampled even if you do not own a compatible GPS device.

Quite a few of the major GPS device manufacturers are continually working to improve their wares. They are offering more advanced functions to make travel easier for travelers who use engines, sneakers, or any other means of transportation possible. Although these designers are really trying to keep these GPS devices reasonably priced for the average consumer, the effect of all the technology available in the unit will predictably be larger price tags. The best that many designers can do for the consumers who are unable to finance the latest technology is to market stripped down versions of the GPS devices that are affordable for Joe 6-cylinder. A nice option is the Magellan Roadmate 1470 Portable GPS Navigator.

Magellan GPS devices are somewhat singular because Magellan has always made their top-performing models to be affordable and convenient. The downside of affordability, naturally, is that state-of-the-art technology is rarely available at affordable prices. Consequently, the quality of Magellan’s products has been given mixed reviews. Magellan responded to this issue with several state-of-the-art models for the most demanding GPS users.

Magellan Maestro

If you are in the market for an affordable buddy for your auto, the Magellan Maestro series contains many devices which are just for car navigation. Magellan Maestro models are found in the 3000, 4000, and 5000 designations. Each of the 3000 models are very low priced with some such as the Maestro 3100 costing less than $200 which is dirt cheap for a GPS unit with 2-D and 3-D display options. Most likely their most appreciated ability is the QuickSpell feature, made to facilitate simplified input for road names.

Every other measurable quality, as well as the performance is barely satisfactory and hanging is annoyingly frequent. With the exception of one or two of the 4000 and 5000 models, the Magellan Maestro is just not exceptional, but the price is still reasonable.

Magellan Roadmate

As suggested by their name, this set of Magellan GPS devices were designed for cars also. However they are unlike their Maestro relatives in terms of appearance. Roadmates are constructed to be more portable, having a smaller footprint yet having the same interface. The outcome of these improvements is the Roadmates are similarly easy to use and far easier to keep than the Maestros. A great unit is the Magellan Road mate 1470 Portable GPS Navigator.

Regarding its performance, the Roadmate is somewhat improved with several specimens like the Roadmate 1212 benefitting from the Centrality Atlas III Processor. If you prefer navigating through the menus, you may perceive a fairly irritating delay after pressing the buttons. The battery capacity isn’t all that great either; it’s capable of running for somewhere near 3 hours until a recharge is called for.

On the upside, the Roadmate is regarded as an improvement over several of the Maestro budget devices, offering quite a few more POI’s than the Maestro 3100 which has a paltry 750,000 points of interest. The Roadmate gets even with other brands by installing more than 6 million points of interest. Text-to-speech, which is usually a handy feature, is also offered by several of the affordable models. The price isn’t prohibitive either, which is impressive for a slim device. A good device to look into is the Magellan Roadmate 1470 Portable GPS Navigator.

Despite the fact that this company offers only two collections to choose from, they each give you at least 10 models within each set in a range of different price tags and features. The least expensive models aren’t that practical for regular users because of the occasional crashes, but more expensive models are quite satisfactory and ought to be enough for commuters to be satisfied with.

The current generation of GPS models found in stores ordinarily include enough functions to accomodate most car owners who desire their car navigation to be easy and safe.

The current generation of GPS models found in stores ordinarily include enough functions to accomodate most car owners who desire their car navigation to be easy and safe. However, there might be times when you reach the limits of your GPS device and still would prefer that your GPS device had more applications or more resilient design for not-so-smooth situations. A great model to look into is the Garmin Nuvi 770 Portable GPS Navigator.

Don’t get rid of your GPS device and buy a new model to meet your evolving needs right away. There are GPS accessories which could attach to your unit and may provide some extra functionality which would meet your requirements. The prices you’ll pay for each of these GPS accessories are predicably well below the price of a standard GPS device. Here are several of the common GPS accessories that are manufactured by each one of the major brands.

Chargers

The majority of the budget units do not work for very long because of some of them having a battery life of a measly 2-3 hours. Because of this you have to charge your GPS devices every few hours in the course of long road trips. Even though nearly all of those devices usually are purchased with a GPS charger, there may be days when the charger stops working or might be misplaced. Do not settle for any one-size-fits-all chargers since they can ruin the battery. Always buy chargers made by the makers of your GPS device. These chargers can completely charge the device rapidly, enabling you to rely on it for long road trips. A nice option to consider is the Garmin Nuvi 770 GPS Navigation system.

Carrying Cases

These GPS accessories are especially low-cost and helpful accessories that are engineered to protect your GPS device from exposure to an assortment of elements. Although some GPS devices are rugged enough to withstand these elements on their own, a carrying case offers an extra layer of protection, and the cases with straps are going to be simpler to carry. Travel cases are improved styles of carrying cases which are just as compact, but engineered for stowing different GPS accessories such as chargers.

Adhesive Discs

One or two models of GPS devices might be incredibly annoying to fasten to different types of car windshields. As soon as the frustration becomes insufferable, think about spending a bit of change on a package of adhesive disks. Attaching your GPS device needs to be as straightforward as sticking the disc to the windshield or a similar smooth surface and then attaching the device onto that disc.

Car Kits

The kind and quantity of accessories provided with each car kit will vary according to the maker, but in general, car kits are the best GPS accessories to have if you are unsure on the accessories you actually need or if you simply wish to be equipped for any inevitable situations. The majority of the car kits contain mounting kits, adhesive disks, data cables, and power adapters. If you have lost a few accessories, a car kit can quickly replace your supply or provide more for when life happens. Take a look at the Garmin Nuvi 770 Portable GPS Navigator for a nice unit.

Certain models might need more accessories than most; so the more intelligent way to find accessories for a certain GPS device is to consult the product page which applies to your device and find the accessories made for your device to avoid the cost of any unnecessary purchases.
